You can’t spoof this
Peter Kirk has noted a couple of times in the past few days about things I’ve noted that look like spoofs but aren’t. But some sites illustrate better than others that there are certain things you just can’t spoof. When Conservapedia came out a few months back, I spent quite a long time trying to work out if it was serious. Take a look, but here’s a taster to whet your appetite.
- In 1st Timothy 5:8 Paul quoted as scripture “the laborer is worthy of his hire.” This line is found nowhere else in the Bible except Matthew 10:10 and Luke 5:7. In 2nd Peter 3:15-16, Peter classes Paul’s letters with “other scriptures”. Both lines are indicative of the writing down and general use of the New Testament prior to A.D. 60 (article on the Bible)
- None of the greatest intellectuals and scientists in history, from Archimedes to Aristotle to St. Augustine to Francis Bacon to Isaac Newton to Lord Kelvin ever proposed or accepted an evolutionary process for a species to transform into a more complex version. (article on evolution)
- A gun is a weapon which fires a bullet, dart or other projectile. It is highly effective to deter crime and to protect the gun owner in self-defense situations. The police rely on guns to enforce the law, except in some countries where the police are not armed. It is debatable in these countries whether the police can properly protect citizens from gun-wielding criminals, as they must wait for the arrival of specialist firearms officers before being able to act. (article on guns)
Why was Conservapedia started: because the founders agreed that Wikipedia was unreliable:
Wikipedia has two million entries, but not one for liberal. Users who go to that term are redirected to the Wikipedia entry on liberalism that conceals the liberal support of gun control and taxpayer funding of abortion, and liberal censorship of prayer in public school.
(For Wikipedia on “liberal” see here.) I doubt that the cultured despisers of Wikipedia are too happy about this development. As Picasso might have said to Jim West: “When I’m finished, you’ll be smiling on the other side of your face.”

Probably not a spoof, sadly. I wonder if it will win over Rick Mansfield?

It’s doubtful.
