Are you looking for me?

It’s always intriguing to see what search terms people use, and in many cases mind-boggling to work out how they ended up at your blog. Here’s a selection of some of the odder phrases that have brought people here over the last few weeks.

First there’s a bunch from people seeking art:

  • hell art
  • tongues in art
  • 1500 protestant church art

I’m not quite sure what the second one was after: pictures of Pentecost or lots of open mouths. And the third one definitely needs to check their dates. But it’s not quite as anachronistic as this wonderful request

  • photos of “the harrowing of hell”

And sticking with anachronisms, there are a couple of really odd biblical ones:

  • catholic old testament readings by job
  • transubstantiation maccabees Maccabees 1

Then there are the things that you wonder what the searcher was looking for:

  • acronym for Pharisee
  • scriptures for atheists
  • Definition of Mediaeval Church

Or why on earth they’ve ended up here:

  • what is the weakest sense for birds?
  • innkeeper salary
  • bitch mothers

Just occasionally there’s one where you’re delighted they’ve found you. I was particularly pleased to get reached by this excellent search term:

  • post thingy hermeneutics

But this month’s prize for entertainment value goes to this startling juxtaposition:

  • “such an outfit” “Kevin P. Edgecomb”

Does anyone know anything about Kevin’s fashion sense? And did this searcher also find Kevin’s blog?

    James McGrath:

I love it! “post thingy hermeneutics” - That has to become the name of a post, at the very least, but I hope someone will actually name a whole blog that. It is a great title! :)

    Peter Kirk:

James, hasn’t Doug already more or less done that with his subtitle “Reading scripture in a post-thingy world”?

    Kevin P. Edgecomb:

    Hilarious! That’s pretty strange.

Kevin himself sometimes wonders whether he knows much about his fashion sense….
