A topical grace before meals

Tag: Humourdoug @ 11:34 am

Just for Advent:

O Lord,
we thank you that in the wilderness
you fed your servant John the Baptist
with locusts and wild honey;
and we thank you, Lord,
that things have improved
since those days.
Amen

    Gotta say that beats singing the Johnny Appleseed thanks song…

    Oh, the Lord is good to me
    And so I thank the Lord
    For giving me the things I need
    The sun, the rain and the apple seed
    The Lord is good to me!

    I might have to try that one out for Christmas dinner and see who gets it…

    At my church home group last night we went around the room each sharing a brief teaching item for the group. One man gave some thoughts about how God provided manna in the desert and continues to provide our daily bread. Next up was his 17-year-old son (claiming no collusion) who read a passage from “God’s Smuggler” by Brother Andrew - about how God wonderfully provided a much needed cake!
