I haven't ever really studied this issue too much but now that I am pastoring in the Grand Canyon National Park I am thinking I need to look into these issues a little more - try googling Tom Vail and Canyon Ministries and let me know what you think.

Doug,

I agree with you that many criationists are not willing to hear or read anything that contradicts what they already believe. However, someone must teach them the truth. This was what motivated me to ask them to read the third chapter of the book.

Conversion, yes. But as in all conversions, more than simple (or indeed, complex) argument is needed. However, I was probably not precise enough in the first part of my post, though I was in the final paragraph. I meant that they would not be persuaded by any valid scientific argument. They have already defined any evolutionary (or at least in their terms macro-evolutionary) science to be godless and unbiblical, and are therefore unable to listen to the arguments.

Doug,

While you are correct in the main, isn't it also true that there is a potential for conversion?
