John 3:17 — what he should have said?!

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world — he’s going to have a church to do that.

(An irreverent thought that popped into my mind while reading today’s gospel!)

    Your thought is funny enough, and sadly true too. But isn’t that just like God, humbling involving us people in his big and kind love (whether we join him, rightly, or not)? Our involuntary laughter is part and parcel of the cosmic joke. Thanks for your involuntary irreverence.
