Tagged (as in meme, not wrestling)

Tag: Bible, Bloggingdoug @ 9:01 pm

I have been tagged by Nick Norelli with a Bible Meme. After his totally incomprehensible wrestling comparisons, he should probably be ignored. However, I shall be charitable and continue to swap comments with him. He does, however, have way too much time on his hands. So, here goes:

1. What translation of the Bible do you like best?

The Jerusalem Bible for its capacity to surprise and delight with felicitous phrasing.

2. Old or New Testament?

This is not a question I can answer. (But I note that OT includes the Apocrypha in my equal opportunities approach to this question)

3. Favourite Book of the Bible?

Luke-Acts (Two for the price of one). NB. I am correcting Nick’s spelling of “favorite”

4. Favourite Chapter?

Romans 8

5. Favourite Verse? (feel free to explain yourself if you have to)

Micah 6:8 (at least on every third Friday)

6. Bible character you think you’re most like?

Joseph the dreamer (but without his family or fashion sense).

7. One thing from the Bible that confuses you?

Revelation

8. Moses or Paul?

Paul, interpreter of Moses

9. A teaching from the Bible that you struggle with or don’t get?

I don’t really know what this question’s getting at, so I’ll name two equally-tied pieces of idiocy some claim to come from the Bible:

  • creationism
  • the rapture

10. Coolest name in the Bible?

I’ve always rather liked that incredibly short man, Bildad the shoe-height, the only man even smaller than knee-high Miah.

Now, with apologies to anyone who gets tagged twice, I tag John Hobbins (who will probably dislike some of these questions even more than I do), Jim West (to annoy him), Chris Tilling (to see if he can put a Wrightian spin on it to annoy Jim), David Ker (to help him realise he’s not really a purple hippopotamus) and Suzanne McCarthy (who I’ve not tagged with a meme before).

Nick, perhaps the problem is that U are not silent. ;-)
