The naked Bible (or just a close shave?)

Tag: Bible, Bizarredoug @ 10:02 pm

Lingamish has a novel piece of advice: Read the Bible Naked. I am not sure God’s commands are any easier to obey in the nude(see Genesis 3). It would, at the least, build a hedge around the law for those worried about incompatible fibres in the same garment.

Curiously at about the same time as I received this advice from David, a comment on Chris Tilling’s blog directed my attention to (and this is deliberately not formatted as a link – you will have to copy and paste) the unbelievable www.sexinchrist.com/shaving.html. This is the page you may (dear sensitive soul) find least likely to offend. Somebody please tell me this site is a cruel spoof. It may make you want to keep your hermeneutical clothes on, however.

    Wow! :-o

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more irresponsible interpretation of the Bible than that little bit right there. Sadly, I don’t think it is a spoof. But what alarmed me more than the article you directed attention to was the link at the bottom about “fisting” — I just couldn’t bring myself to read it.

So I posted the link…but you were curious enough about it to browse… Hmmm… I know. It really is like rubber-necking to see the rubbish after a car wreck isn’t it? This is why I published an essay on the grotesque a couple of years ago. It’s forever fascinating. Cheers!

the naked thing is just not a good call. A) It’s 10 degrees Farenheit outside my window and B) its just a yucky thought right now…

Ya know, the mental image of a bunch of biblical scholars parading around sans clothing just makes me want to hurl. I guess it’s because, in sharing a room with Tilling in San Diego, I saw enough back hair and gross nappiness that I just can’t stand the thought of more.

Chris, friend- keep your shirt on- even after showering!

It fills me with such a sense of satisfaction that my blogging can inspire scholars to ponder such stuff.

I checked to question and answer page - it looks like a spoof.

However, the sermon which I posted today on pissing standing up was not a spoof.
