But the reason why this does not have a genuine contemporary feel is that Saul and Peter had both seen genuine visions of the Lord (Acts 9:3-6, 10:11-16) leading them to moderate their hard line stance. In the current situation no one is claiming new revelation, just that they have found a new understanding of the old one. So the parallel is not an apt one.</description>
