Some Blogkeeping bits

Tag: Bloggingdoug @ 4:46 pm

I’ve upgraded to the spiffy new WordPress 2.5. Then, partly to play with some of its features, I’ve updated the blogroll, and changed the theme. The original theme behind i3Theme 1.6 was designed by N.Design Studio and customized by MangoOrange.

I must say this seems like a really good upgrade to WordPress. A few days ago Nick Norelli asked why on earth people would pay to blog when you can do it for free. Well, I don’t pay that much, but I like the sense of making my own decisions. Should I come across a better blogging system, I can change over, and keep the same address. Should blogging cease to be attractive, or I want to do something else, or it all just becomes passé, I still get to keep my web home. I think that’s worth it. Having said all that, if WordPress keep their upgrades going like this, I’m highly unlikely to change.

    Great theme choice!

I am a control freak too. I like my own domain. I like my own server space to run multiple things at once - especially if I want to do my own media streams and the like. I like the security as well.

I will hook into 2.5 later.

    Looks good.

It looks pretty fantastic. I would recommend moving the “pages” section toward the top or have those links floating next to the logo (as you previously did), lest they will get lost amongst archives.

Justin, why? The same links are provided in the top menu across the first post.

I’m too cheap to pay for something that I can do well for free. You can usually tell the difference with those who host themselves though. This new interface is really clean, nice.

Doug - you trickster. I did not see that sly set of links above as well. I simply noticed that they were down below, glanced up to the search box area and assumed. My apologies.
