There’s no f in article – the rude rant
Do not read this if you are easily offended by strong language, but the libertarian blogger Guido Fawkes has been passed an email which he has posted. In it Times columnist Giles Coren throws an apoplectic over-the-top wobbly with the sub-editors (and also reveals himself as a prima donna) for removing an “a” in his concluding sentence.
There are two reasons to read it:
- It’s hilarious
- For all those who sometimes wonder if the work of textual critics is anything other than a refuge for nit-pickers, train-spotters and those running away from the big historical and theological questions, this obsessive authorial attention to detail may make you think again.

Well considering the fact that the foul mouthed dolt is straining a gnat to make a gay camel, his own writing is a bit pathetic anyway and obviously needs a close editorial look. His sentence Why would you change a sentnece aso that it meant something i didn’t mean? shows he’s not all that detail oriented.

Makes me appreciate his father all the more. Now there was real talent and humor, without the prickly narcissism.
